Cinematic Music review

Our friend Henry Prince at the Cinematic Music blog gave us a nice write up of our 2007 EP, check it out!

A wee excerpt....

The 3rd track ‘Evolution is not a Theory’ is definitely the highlight of the EP, its one of those tracks I consider to be cornerstones in music like ‘Mammoth’ by Pelican. The power that it generates when the heavy section kicks in is astonishing to such a point that it feels like they couldn’t possibly push their wall of sound any further. Its like hitting the ground after bungee jumping with a faulty rope. The lead guitar part is quite simple but it creates one of the most dramatic soundscapes I’ve ever heard. I call it a ‘cornerstone’ because the overall effect this track has is so intense that it makes me think no one can surpass it, and if anyone were to try, the two would immediately be compared. I highly recommend this EP for post rock enthusiasts, and for you metal-heads who are looking for something less aggressive than The Ocean.

Rocksound review

The lovely Faye Lewis at Rocksound gave us a very kind review a few months back....

At their best, post-melodic rockers What the Blood Revealed utilise the sharp and static tensions of Pelican with mesmerising results. Opener 'Politics, Here Is Death is a slow burning but ultimately textured track built around a softer swaying Russian Circles, while 'A Million Explosions Live Inside Everyone' carries the mantle for choking guitar lines and precisely calibrated sounds. Primarily focused on intensely wrought musicianship- with a few uplifting turns thrown in to lighten the load- and with plans for a full length later this year, WTBR are exciting prospects. 8 out of 10, Faye Lewis, Rocksound, Feb 2010

Forthcoming Shows

We have a few really cool shows next week we are pretty stoked about.

The first is at the Macbeth in Hoxton on April 20th, at the first Lead Footed (www.myspace.com/henriprince) club night. Should be a great show, there's an exhibition of photography by the students at University of Westminster as well so will be interesting I think. Also playing are The Monroe Transfer, Saiga and Swallowing the Seas

Next up on the 21st we are at the Chameleon in Nottingham with Flies are Spies from Hell, Alright the Captain, and Khuda. Should be an awesome night with some quality bands.

Then we are up in Edinburgh at Bannermans on the 22nd, playing with the rather fuckin awesome Manatees, as well as Hitcher (their last show apparently), and Jackie Treehorn.

Hopefully catch you at one of the shows!
